Family Preservation Services provide therapeutic case management services to families in order to prevent the need for out-of-home placements for children due to abuse, neglect or severe family conflict. Another program objective is to work with children who are currently in foster care and facilitate an earlier return to their birth or extended family. CYS utilizes a solution-focused, strength-based model to address specific issues of abuse and neglect, resolve crises and conflicts within the family, identify each family’s strengths, teach parenting skills, and assure that the family has access to community-based resources to sustain progress. Family Preservation Services may include up to six months of counseling and support. The ultimate goal is to help families find ways to live together safely and successfully
