South Puget Sound YouthBuild Project
Are you ready to rebuild your life and rebuild your community?
The South Puget Sound YouthBuild Project is a full-time program that helps you earn your GED or high school diploma and gives you hands-on training to start a career in the construction trades. And you earn money at the same time!
Who is the South Puget Sound YouthBuild Project for?
Youth who...
- Are living Thurston County
- Still need their GED or HS diploma
- Are between the ages of 17-20 (on September 8th)
- Are not currently enrolled in a high school (alternative high schools are OK)
- Are interested in the construction trades
- Are motivated to work hard and stick with the program through the end
- Meet at least one of the following additional requirements:
- Low-income (80% of median income)
- In or aging out of foster care
- Youth offender
- Youth with a disability
- Child of an incarcerated parent
- Migrant youth
What do I get?
Help to complete your GED or high school diploma.
Valuable training in green-building techniques and chance to earn a construction certificate that will make you highly employable.

Career counseling and job or apprenticeship placement.

Seventy-five percent of the funding for the South Puget Sound YouthBuild Project comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and the US Department of Labor ($980,000 over three years).
